TED TALKS ABOUT INTUITIVE RESPONSE
Strangely enough....I would respond to this sign more strongly than to a new, freshly painted sign.
I found his comment about intuitive responses before text or meaning registers to be fascinating. For example...when he contrasted the two no parking signs... I had a MUCH stronger emotional response to the one written by hand. The bold and garish writing is much more expressive than typed text. Like he said... ask yourself which sign you would be less inclined to park in front of? using that logic I am surprised that designers don't take this into account more often.

jeopardy
I thought the whole ordeal was rather bizarre. I thought it was funny how they attempted to give Watson the robot a voice with some inflection. I feel like the outcome of the whole show was obvious. The one contestant and the robot both knew the answers the same amount of the time...but humans simply don't have the reflexes that robots do. I'll bet that it wasn't a coincidence that this game was being played for charity..........

TAZZZZZZZZZZZ
This is definitely an article that needs to be read more than once in order to fully understand it. But based on the information that I did gather, I will discuss.
Something that I do not remember reading about specifically is why is Temporary Autonomous zones are forming. I could make assumptions, though, that they form in places where authority is corrupt and/or neglectful. The photographs in the video that you sent us were rather incredible. There is just enough lack of authority that this TAZ can be formed but just enough regulation to keeps these areas as "Temporary" societies. What I am wondering is.... what constitutes these zones as temporary? What would give them the validity to be recognized as permanent?
The question of whether the internet is permanent or temporary relates to this and possibly even our assignment. Does something need to be physical, touchable to be permanent? Has the internet taken on a mind of its own? I would say that in a way it can probably function without human assistance (Machines are our ambassadors--the flesh is irrelevant except as a terminal) Is this author saying that we are not needed to oversee technology except to end it, or is the author saying that we will be ended by machines?
Regardless, it does seems to me that the net/web certainly can function in many ways without the assistance of people. I thought it was interesting how the author discussed the importance of the web to TAZs means of survival, but also how recognizing bodily/physical awareness is important as well.
In class we are creating virtual structure. We build looming sky scrapers and steel bridges with the tip of our little white mouse, only to have them dissipate in the flash of an eye, with the click of a button. Back to white, square one.

Dream I had
This is all I remember
Glow
Dusk on a
Hill at night.
Playground, knives and ropes
Shame and guilt.
